A very special 4/4 violin/fiddle i hand crafted from texas mesquite. the one piece back, the sides (garland), and neck/scroll are made from west texas mesquite that has been treated, cured and aged. the tail piece, endpin, saddle and bridge are 15,000+ year old mammoth ivory. fingerboard is top ebony. fitted with perfection geared pegs (4/1 gear ratio) so no fine tuners are necessary. this violin has been played for the past 5 months so it does have some light normal wear but is in great condition (see the photos). inlayed ebony chinrest is included; bow not included.
This violin is fully lined and blocked (see picture taken during construction), purfled, and finished with a hard, high quality terpene resin/oil varnish (uv cured) to accentuate the grain. the back is one piece mesquite made slightly deeper (about 3-4mm) than a standard violin, properly graduated. the sides are steam-bent mesquite and the neck and scroll are also mesquite.
The violin top is quality well-aged spruce, guarneri pattern, carefully graduated for the best tonal qualities. the strings are thomastik vision orchestra.
